PAINT LOVE

 

love this paint color...

ekkkk.. so excited to paint a night stand this color.

it's called salmon pink by pittsburg paints..

it paint & primer in one in satin finish but i also love high gloss,

but i'm love the paint & primer in one because the paint 

is a lot thicker & covers better (we used it for our entire upstairs)

I highly recommend trying it for either furniture or walls

also i'm going to try this whole wax thing..

i've been reading about it lately & it helps give the furniture

a soft finish look when it's done  + its good for heavy use

 & easy application just apply with a rag/sock after painting.

yay progress on the office, now onto wallpapering my closet & adding shelves!

DIY WALLPAPER DRESSER

 

How fun is this wallpaper dresser?!

After my dresser sat in the garage all winter I finally painted it

& just recently added wallpaper to outside of the drawers.

& boy-oh-boy do I love the outcome!

It definitely hides those ugly drawer sides that 

I see every time I or the hubs opens the dresser. 

Here's a little quick tutorial on how I did this. 

My total cost for this was $25, I ordered the wallpaper 

as samples from spoonflower.com, the samples are only $5 a peice

So i ordered 4 24x12 samples, you may need more or less

depending on how large or small your dresser is.

STEP 1:

you'll need some scissors & your wallpaper & some water

the wallpaper comes prepased to all you have to do it run 

the glue side under the water - as easy as that!

STEP 2:

take the drawer out & lay the wallpaper over it so it aligns

& fold/crease the paper where the edges hit

cut the folded edges off

STEP 3:

run the backside of the prepased wallpaper under the sink

(do not get the front side- the side with the design- wet)

for only a few seconds & make sure the corners get wet

STEP 4:

line up the wallpaper on the drawers

if you dont align it perfectly the first time no worries

the wallpaper has some movability to it before drying 

STEP 5:

put your drawer back in after a couple minutes of drying 

& voila! finished. yes it was really that easy.

TIPS:

 if your dresser glides are on the side of your dresser - this project may be a little trick-er

my glides/track just happened to be at the bottom so this was easy,

I had a question: "wont the wallpaper rip & tear off when you open the dresser?"

NO it will not! The dresser has 1/2" space on each side of the drawer so it 

does NOT touch the sides of the dresser at all.

Also use a credit card or a smooth surface to flatten out the wallpaper 

when applying it to the sides of the drawers to get any unwanted wrinkles out

The project could be cute also on the back side of a piece of furniture that is visible

or I happened to use my left over wallpaper to line the inside of my acylic tray

that sits on the top of my dresser, it ties in with the drawer sides.

These are all 5x7 area rug & indoor/outdoor rugs,

I really started to like indoor/outdoor rugs because 

if you happen to have kids/or a messy hubby

than these are perfect, easy to clean in the washer

I highly recommend them & 

 I like to use them for our entry door & our side door

Target has some really cute ones & i just purchased #1! 

P.S. if you order the #4 scallop rug note that it is more tanish/khaki color than

kinda disappointed when it got here but I figured that one of these days

i'll paint the scallops with some textile paint because the khaki color 

which does NOT go with my house.

happy birthday to this beautiful mama also known as one of my favorite sisters

(yes, I have two favorite sisters) 

 

It just seems like the other day you were harassing... me always pinching

my baby pinky finger and squishing my nose (I blame my squishy nose on you to this day)
with all the aside.. your a beautiful mother & a wonderful sister & best friend to have

I hope you have a wonderful day & enjoy spending the day with your gorgeous babies,

& make sure that they at least take you out for ice-cream

EASTER DINNER

 

 this year i volunteered my self to host easter

I think I only ended up calling my mom & sister a billion times

 asking questions, like how do I pick out a ham,

what do I do if I don't have enough food,

but needless to say it was a success!

I was so glad to have everyone over in our new house.

 we literally JUST finished the bathroom remodel

saturday night before easter dinner so luckily our guests had a bathroom

phew, i was getting a little worried.

anyways i used the limes as a cute place setting 

& than the guests cut them up & then they added them to their drink.

 I made this recipe here raspberry limeade. 

the raspberry limeade was delish.

& I made a fresh fruit salad for every place setting.

cake, these bunny tails  for the cake stand, raspberry lemon cake,

mini strawberry fruit pizzas, potatoes & ham.

overall it was delicious.

oh, & that's the $5 table cloth from TJ Maxx

that I turned into a table runner in the pictures.

FIREPLACE & ACCESSORIES

Ah, finally a better photo of the fire place.

We were able to build this fire place ALL for $50.

Super awesome, right?

 I just showed my dad a picture of the mantle on the left
 & he built me one almost identical, just based off the picture.

o,  i wanted to put tile around the fire place
like on the photo on the left but my space is pretty limited
and we were afraid it would get too wide.

we just bought 1 sheet of MDF from Menards $35

& this stuff my dad calls "ship lap" $15

its really just primed tongue & groove planked 6" wide wood.
& than I painted the fire place with Pittsburgh Paints Delicate White.
it's so white that they added more white to the already white paint.
crazy huh? told you i have a white fetish.
 we're using the same white for our trim & it's on our doors.
semi-gloss finish-it makes it easier to wipe off & clean. 

o, ps. please don't mind that we still don't have base board.

 i'm currently loving all these accessories for under $60.
I'm thinking I may need to add a couple of these to my mantle.
& of course there all white.

HAPPY 1/2 YEAR

happy 1/2 year to my hubby. 

most of tonight will be celebrated by cake & snuggling. 

& yes, i do still love him.

 how awesome is this chalkboard sign that my uncle made?!
he used an old window & we displayed it outside the reception.

our reception was perfect in every way.
the environment perfect & the dessert was delicious.
we did a ice-cream bar & a dessert bar with lots of desserts. 
the little boxes on the table were "thank you's"
little jars filled with sprinkles.

 

 

okay enough boring you with wedding photos.

but i do love this man & i'm so happy to spend forever with him.
